LinkedIn video is one of the most direct ways for founders, consultants and professionals to show expertise. Use short expert-led videos with one idea, clear framing and professional audio, then record several in one consistent setup.

Choose one idea per video

LinkedIn audiences are busy. Each video should make one useful point: a lesson, a common mistake, a framework or an opinion on an industry trend. If you have three points, make three videos.

Content ideas that work on LinkedIn

  • Answers to questions clients ask you most
  • Myths in your industry and what is actually true
  • A short breakdown of how you approach a problem
  • Lessons from a project or client result
  • Your view on news or changes in your sector
  • Introductions to your team or services

Structure each video

  1. Hook: a clear opening line that names the topic or problem.
  2. Point: the insight, explained simply.
  3. Example: a short real-world illustration.
  4. Action: what the viewer should think about or do next.

Many effective LinkedIn videos are under two minutes.

Look professional, not corporate

A styled studio set gives you a polished but human backdrop that stands out in a feed of office walls and home bookshelves. Dress as you would to meet a client, and choose a set that reflects your brand.

Frame for the feed

LinkedIn supports vertical, square and landscape video. Many professionals film vertical or square for the mobile feed, and landscape for website and YouTube reuse. Decide before the session, or film key videos in both.

Prioritise audio

Professional audio signals professional expertise. Use a lavalier or wireless microphone, and remember that many people watch with sound off, so add captions in the edit.

Batch in one consistent setup

Set the light, camera and microphone once, then record several videos in a row. A change of jacket or top between batches makes the series look like it was filmed over several weeks. A two-hour session can produce a month or more of LinkedIn video for a prepared speaker.

Repurpose everything

  • Pull short clips for Reels and Shorts.
  • Turn the script into a text post or article.
  • Grab a still frame for a carousel cover.
